Kids' Birthday Party in Winter in Warsaw: Where to Celebrate When It's Cold Outside

In summer it's easy: a garden, a park, a playground, and the kids entertain themselves. Winter is harder. It's dark by 4 pm, cold and wet outside, and ten children in a flat for two hours is a challenge for even the calmest parents.

If your child's birthday falls between November and March, this guide is for you. We compare the most popular options in Warsaw, suggest winter themes and give you a short checklist so nothing catches you off guard.

Where to hold a kids' birthday party in winter? Comparing the options

1. A party at home

Pros: a familiar place, total freedom, no travelling.

Cons: in winter the kids can't go outside, so all that energy stays in your flat. You also have to plan two hours of activities and prepare the materials yourself.

Best for: parents who prefer to celebrate at home.

💡 A party at home without the organising: you can invite us over! We'll come with all the materials and a ready project. The children create, you have coffee with the other parents, and afterwards we clear away our materials.

2. A soft play centre

Pros: the kids burn off energy and an entertainer runs the programme.

Cons: in winter play centres are packed, loud and often shared with other parties. Older kids (8+) quickly decide they're "for little ones". And it's cold and flu season, and ball pits are where the germs are.

Best for: younger children (3–6) who most need to move.

3. Cinema, bowling, trampoline park

Pros: a "wow" activity with little preparation.

Cons: not much time together. In the cinema the kids sit in silence, on trampolines everyone jumps on their own. And it often means driving across the city.

Best for: older children who want one specific activity.

4. A creative party in an art studio

Pros: warm, calm and just for your group. The children spend two hours making something together, and each one goes home with their own artwork instead of a plastic party favour. You don't have to plan or clean anything.

Cons: it's not a place for running around. For kids who mainly need to let off steam, a play centre is a better fit.

Best for: children aged 5–12 who like to create, build and paint, and parents who want a calm but special party.

Winter themes kids love

Winter is the perfect time for a themed party. Here are the ideas that work best at our studio:

  • Winter village: each child builds and paints their own house, and together they make a lit-up village.
  • Frozen: ice castles, snowflakes and crystal crowns for little princesses and knights.
  • Magical fairy house: a fairy-tale house made of pine cones, moss and twigs, with lights and "snow".
  • Arctic and penguins: clay animals, a glacier landscape and northern lights painted with pastels.
  • Winter forest in a jar: a tiny snowy world your child can keep on a shelf.

Choose the theme together with your child. It works best when it connects to what they love right now: a favourite film, animal or game.

Checklist: a kids' birthday party in winter

  • ✅ Book early: 2–3 weeks ahead. Weekends in December, January and February go first.
  • ✅ Check where the kids will leave coats and boots: with 10 guests that's a lot of clothes.
  • ✅ Ask about parking: in winter more parents drive their kids.
  • ✅ Have a plan B in case of illness: ask whether the date can be moved if the birthday child gets sick.
  • ✅ Set a clear pick-up time: after dark, parents like to know exactly when to come.
  • ✅ Send invitations early: you can make them for free with our invitation maker.
