The Best Birthday Workshop for a 5-Year-Old: Why We Build Castles
Art for Kids · Tue 20 October

What's the best birthday workshop theme for a 5-year-old? The honest answer: it depends on what your child loves right now. A favourite film, a favourite animal, the game they play every afternoon. That's always where we start.
But after many parties at our studio in Wilanów, we can tell you what five-year-olds ask for most: Frozen, unicorns, Ariel and fairies. And for almost all of these worlds we suggest the same thing: building castles.
What 5-year-olds love most
Frozen ❄️
Elsa, Anna and Olaf are still number one. Ice blue, silver, snowflakes and a lot of sparkle.
Unicorns 🦄
Rainbows, pastels, golden horns and flowers. Five-year-olds love anything they can wear or hold: our unicorn masks are one of the most popular workshops.

Ariel and the underwater world 🧜♀️
Shells, pearls, fish and coral. A theme that works well in a mixed group of girls and boys.
Fairies 🧚
Tiny houses, mushrooms, flowers and secret doors. Fairy worlds are calm and detailed, perfect for children who like to take their time.

It looks complicated, but with our help even five-year-olds make it easily. We prepare the whole base before the party, so the children can focus on the most fun part: painting and decorating their house exactly the way they like.
Why we usually suggest building castles
Elsa has an ice palace. Ariel lives in an underwater castle. Unicorns and fairies belong in a fairy-tale kingdom. A castle fits almost every theme five-year-olds love, and it's a great project for this age:
- It's big. Five-year-olds love making something they can carry proudly out of the door, not a small picture they forget in the car.
- It's simple in steps. Towers from tubes, walls from cardboard, a gate, a flag. Each step is short and clear, so every child keeps up.
- Every castle is different. One child makes an ice palace with silver snowflakes, another a pink castle with pearls, another a fairy tower with flowers. Same project, completely different results.
- It mixes many techniques. Cutting, glueing, painting, modelling clay, glitter and decorations: a lot of creative work in two hours.
- It works for girls and boys. A castle can be a princess palace, a knight's fortress or a home for a dragon.
How we match the castle to the theme
- Frozen: an ice castle in white, blue and silver, with snowflakes and frosty towers
- Ariel: an underwater castle with shells, pearls, coral and fish, on a sea-blue base
- Unicorns: a rainbow castle in pastels, with golden details and flowers
- Fairies: a fairy-tale tower with flowers, mushrooms and a little door
