Stitch Birthday Party Ideas: Decorations, Games + a Studio Workshop

Stitch is a blue alien who crash-landed in Hawaii and, instead of wrecking everything, found a family. Kids love him because he is naughty, loud and a bit strange; grown-ups like him because underneath it is a story about friendship. Since the live-action film came out, Stitch is everywhere: on backpacks, pencil cases and, more and more often, at birthday parties.

Good news for parents: this is one of the few themes that works for both girls and boys aged 4–9. No need to choose between princesses and dinosaurs – at a Stitch party everyone finds something they like.

Below are ideas for invitations, decorations, cake, games and art projects. At the end we describe what a Stitch-style party looks like at our studio.

Invitations

In our free invitation maker two designs fit well: Space (Stitch came from another planet) and Mermaid and ocean (he landed on a Hawaiian beach). Type in your child's name, the date, time and place, then print the invitation at home or send it on WhatsApp.

Decorations: Hawaii and outer space

The party colours are blue, turquoise, pink and a little green. Mix Stitch's two worlds: a tropical beach and outer space.

  • Flower garlands. Paper hibiscus flowers or ready-made Hawaiian leis – one for each guest as they arrive.
  • Palm leaves. Cut from green card and stuck on the walls or hung above the table.
  • Stars and planets. Glow-in-the-dark stickers on the ceiling or paper planets on strings.
  • Balloons in blue and pink. A few blue balloons become Stitch with big cardboard ears and a drawn-on face.
  • A beach on the table. A blue tablecloth for the ocean, some sand or semolina in a bowl, shells and a small paper surfboard with your child's name.

Cake and food

  • An ocean-coloured cake: blue icing, a wave of whipped cream and a few sugar-paste flowers. Instead of a figure, add a small wafer surfboard.
  • Hawaiian fruit: pineapple, mango, watermelon and coconut. Kids finish fruit skewers faster than crisps.
  • "Space" cupcakes: blue icing and colourful star sprinkles.
  • Blue lemonade: water with a few drops of blue syrup, a slice of lime and a paper umbrella in each glass.

Stitch birthday party games

  1. Hula freeze. Hawaiian music plays and kids dance the hula with a hoop or in tissue-paper skirts. When the music stops, everyone freezes like statues on the beach.
  2. Catch the alien. One child is Stitch and runs around the room. Whoever he tags becomes an alien too and helps catch the rest.
  3. Shell hunt. Paper shells and starfish are hidden around the room. Whoever finds the most wins, and then you make a garland from the shells.
  4. Draw an alien. Each child draws their own alien from another planet: how many ears, eyes and arms it has is up to the artist. At the end, hold an exhibition and vote for the weirdest one.

Art project: Stitch's beach house

The best art project for a Stitch party is a Hawaiian beach house with a Stitch of your own. At the studio it goes like this:

  • A cardboard house with a palm-leaf roof and a small deck. Kids paint and decorate it their own way.
  • Their own Stitch from foam clay. Every child models their own Stitch – big ears, favourite pose. Foam clay is light, brightly coloured and needs no painting, so the figure can sit straight on the deck or in a hammock.
  • A beach without real sand. We make the sand from paint mixed with semolina, so nothing spills in the car on the way home. Add cardboard palm trees, shells and a blue ocean.
  • A surfboard with their name, a hammock and hibiscus flowers – everyone adds what they like.

We prepare the house base before the party, so even five-year-olds make their project with no trouble and get to the best part: painting, modelling and decorating.

If the birthday child prefers space, we can prepare Stitch's spaceship for the whole group instead – with a dome, lights and a control panel. Just tell us when you book.
