Holiday and St Nicholas Day Workshops for Kids in Warsaw: December 2026
Art for Kids · Mon 19 October

Updated 19 October 2026. Museums and theatres usually publish their December programmes in the second half of November, so we'll keep adding to this post. Below are the events whose dates organisers have already confirmed, plus our own holiday workshops.
December in Warsaw is the loveliest time to go out with children: Christmas markets, lights, St Nicholas Day and holiday workshops where your child makes their own decoration or a present for someone they love. Here's what's worth planning now, before places run out.
Holiday workshops for kids at Art for Kids (Wilanów)

String-art decorations from our winter workshops.
At our studio in Wilanów (ul. Branickiego 21A/U2), winter means holiday projects. Themes we've made with children and are bringing back this season:
- String-art decorations: trees, snowflakes and stars wrapped in coloured thread, ready to hang this Christmas.
- A winter house and winter village: a cardboard house with windows, a wreath on the door and cotton-wool snow.
- A winter town from milk cartons: townhouses that look like a real town at night with fairy lights inside.
- A birdhouse for winter: painted with patterns, flowers and birds.

Winter village: each family built its own house.
A family workshop as a present
Instead of another toy: a voucher for a family workshop (up to 5 people) or a one-to-one workshop for your child, with a holiday theme to choose. Buy by 15 November and pay 520 zł instead of 650 zł for a family workshop. The voucher is valid for a year. Details: A holiday present for your child: an art workshop voucher.
December birthdays
Is your child's birthday in December? A winter theme is perfect: Frozen, a winter castle, snowflakes. You'll find ideas in our post Themed birthday parties for kids in Warsaw and the full offer on our birthday page.
Holiday workshops at preschools and schools

Planning holiday workshops at your preschool or school? There are two options:
- Bring your group to our studio in Wilanów (ul. Branickiego 21A/U2) for a holiday art and craft session. Children work in a real art studio, and we set up the workspaces and provide all the materials. A great idea for a December class or preschool outing.
- We come to you: we bring all the materials and run the session on site.
Sessions are in English, so children create and pick up the language at the same time. At preschools we work with groups of up to about 15 children, for around 30 minutes per group; larger groups are split into two turns. Example themes: string-art decorations, winter houses, holiday cards, snowflakes. Every child goes home with a finished piece.
December dates fill up fast, so it's worth booking in November. More about our sessions for schools: classes for schools and preschools.
St Nicholas Day 2026 in and around Warsaw

This year St Nicholas Day (Mikołajki) falls on Sunday, 6 December 2026.
Sunday 6.12 · Mikołajki at Hotel Trylogia (Zielonka)
12:00–16:00 · ul. Poniatowskiego 46, Zielonka near Warsaw · ages 2–12 with a grown-up · 100 zł per child
Bouncy castles, workshops, entertainers and a visit from St Nicholas in the Knights' Hall. Food and drinks are not included. Places are limited and must be booked in advance: trylogia.pl/mikolajki.
In previous years Warsaw's museums and culture centres also ran St Nicholas Day events for children. Their 2026 programmes aren't out yet; we'll add them here once organisers publish them.

20 November 2026 – 6 January 2027 · Plac Defilad (by the Palace of Culture and Science)
The second edition of the Jarmark Warszawski: stalls, carousels, festive lights and winter attractions, with new attractions the organiser will reveal in the coming weeks. This season's opening hours will appear on jarmark.waw.pl.
Warsaw's new Christmas lights

From early December 2026
This winter Warsaw gets brand-new festive decorations, which will stay in the city until 2029. Lights will go up along Krakowskie Przedmieście and the whole Royal Route, Castle Square, the Old Town Market Square, ul. Złota and Marszałkowska, among others. The biggest new features are a 21-metre tree with 47,000 LED lights on Plac Centralny and a new projection mapping on the façade of the Staszic Palace. The exact switch-on date hasn't been announced; last year the lights came on in early December. Source: warszawa19115.pl.
Evening idea: a walk along the Royal Route from Castle Square, then hot chocolate. Children love picking their own favourite decoration.
3 holiday projects to make at home
Not every December weekend has to be an outing. Three simple projects we also make at the studio:
- Paper-cut snowflakes: fold a square of paper in half three times into a triangle and cut small shapes along the edges. Unfold it and there's a snowflake, every one different. They look lovely stuck on a window.
- Salt-dough decorations: a glass of flour, a glass of salt and about half a glass of water. Cut out stars and hearts, make a hole with a straw, bake at a low temperature and paint.
- A milk-carton winter town: cut out windows, paint the cartons with acrylic paint, add cardboard roofs and put battery fairy lights inside.

Where to check the latest dates
